Sprays, diffuser oils, and deodorant oh my…. and all the recipes are included in this post.
And… Lemongrass… comes in the Young Living Premier Starter Kit! So no special purchase required!

Home odor reducer diffuser recipe:
Honestly, lemongrass on its own is a good source of deodorizing benefits in the diffuser, but what fun is that. Of course any citrus based oil is a winner in the diffuser but, we are talking about Lemongrass so I will stay on task. O
One of my favorites for that clean home smell consists 100% of oils that come in the Premier Starter Kit:
Clean Home Diffuser Recipe:
- 4 drops of Lemon
- 3 drops of Lemongrass
- 2 drops of Peppermint
- Combine all three oils in the Young Living Desert Mist Diffuser with water and Enjoy!

Also, there is a BUNDLE offer going on right now on Young Living where you can purchase a desert mist diffuser and 15ml bottle of Valor and a 15ml bottle of Peace and Calming. Many people are learning the benefits of natural deodorants, we have learned a great deal about the health concerns surrounding store bought products of many kinds. No shade intended, it is a fact that mass produced products may not always be the best for us. Lemongrass has qualities that can be utilized to help with personal hygiene.
The reason we even need deodorant in the first place is because of the bacteria that lives in our armpits, they love the dark, and warm environment. The sweat the body releases naturally is then digested by bacteria sitting on the surface of our skin. Hence, causing the unpleasant odor.
Personal Deodorant Recipe:
- 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (Melt this in the microwave or in a double boiler)
- 1/2 box of baking soda
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- 6-7 drops of Lemongrass Young Living Essential Oil (add or subtract to your desired scent)
- 5-6 drops of Lavender Young Living Essential Oil (add or subtract to your desired scent)
- 1 Tablespoon Witch Hazel
Directions: Melt the coconut oil in the microwave or a double boiler, mix the dry ingredients together in a stainless steel bowl, add the witch hazel, coconut oil, and essential oils. Mix vigorously until the mixture beings to become chalky like deodorant. Place the mixture into your designated glass container or safe plastic container. The mixture will harden up as the coconut oil cools down.
NOTE: Coconut oil will melt at 76 degrees so you will need to remember to keep this away from heat or in the refrigerator to maintain the integrity of the deodorant. Also, another note, increase the use of cornstarch or baking soda if it does not appear to be solidifying as expected. The deodorant should feel like the store bought stuff.
I usually use a spatula to put it on my arm pits instead of putting it on with my fingers. You will only need about a nickel size, and how you put it on, is up to you.
Bug spray for pets and livestock:
I saw many types of natural bug repellants that folks posted online to reduce the amount of bugs that bother the livestock or our pets. I decided that I wanted to use a different mixture but I used what was mostly noted in other recipes.
- 5 drops Cedarwood Young Living Essential Oil
- 4 or 5 drops of Lemongrass Young Living Essential Oil
- 4 or 5 drops if Lavender Young Living Essential Oil
- 1/4 cup witch hazel
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- fill the remainder of the bottle with water
Directions: Add all of the items listed above into a glass 16oz bottle. Shake well before use. Be careful not to get this into the animals eyes as this has vinegar in it. I sell glass bottles on the Savvy Mom Shop @ https://savvymomsurvivalguide.com/product-category/16oz-clear-glass-bottles
So, now you can go chase your animals all over the place to try and get the spray on them. I chased the cows all over the pasture, but I eventually put the sprayer on the bottle on the narrowest stream and shot it up in the air and got it on the cows that way. I thought they would never come to me again, but they appreciated not having the bugs on them. The results were almost instant.
