I love that I have had so many folks reach out to me and ask me for a recipe, or ask me how to make hand sanitizer.
I love you all for having faith in me for this. So, I could not pass up this opportunity to pass on a recipe that I have been playing with for a while now. The flip side of this, is I am sad that we have such a need for a recipe like this right now in our world.
Essential oils have many purifying qualities on their own and the key is finding the other items you will need for the recipe–therefore, I am using items that are hopefully not sold out in your area.
Here is a list of some of the Young Living essential oils with the highest purifying qualities:
- Tea Tree
- Lemon (be cautious with lemon due to the acidity)
I reference Young Living because I am a Young Living distributor and a passionate Young Living user, I am not going to be able to reference any other type of oils as I do not have experience with them or their harvesting processes.
If you are interested in becoming a Young Living member and purchasing oils wholesale for you and your family–please follow the instructions on the below link and I will send you a FREE Savvy Mom exclusive clear 16oz glass bottle total FREE!
Here is how you make the homemade hand sanitizer:
I am not going to bore you with a ton of facts, you went looking for this post because you already know you need and want to make this for yourself and your family. Also, you already know that the store bought stuff has chemicals and the sanitizer you make at home is safe.
Disclaimer: remember I am not a chemist, or a manufacturer, I am simply someone who found a recipe that worked for her and her family.
1. Take one 4 oz. glass bottle spray or pump either one is fine
2. Fill bottle half way with Witch hazel scented or unscented
3. 5 drops of each of your favorite purifying oils (so 15 total) if you are using only thieves– probably 8 is enough.
4. Fill the container the rest of the way with grapeseed or you favorite carrier oil.
Mix the witch hazel, grapeseed oil, and the essential oils of your choosing into the bottle and shake well. If you want to make in a larger quantity just double as necessary based on the ounces of the container.
Each time you use it, give it a little shake to mix everything up again. Also, the grapeseed oil will make your skin feel very soft and not dry you out like the store bought stuff. Just sayin’ =)
